You like to sail, and to go out
at sea rhymes first with nautical activities. Oh, how adept you are of having
fun with friends on your water skis, wakeboard and other towed buoys! You still
have to choose the right boat to fill up on sensations! Band of Boats bends
over backwards to help you.
A LITTLE HISTORY….
Originally, typical water ski
boats were rather low on the water with a flat bottom hull, the purpose of
which is to slide on the water to reach a high speed in a few moments. The
Master Craft brand reflects the spirit
of these boats. Today, all motor boats capable of quickly
reaching 20 knots can tow skiers
. Manufacturers are increasingly declining their models in sport version,
equipped with ski mast or wake tower.
How to Choose the Right Model?
The small boats, more manageable
lend themselves more to skiing on calm
water. They are light when empty and use ballasts to direct their wakes.
Conversely, the larger boats for which the wake is pronounced allow more
to make jumps in wakeboard .
First of all, to select your model, you must answer 4 fundamental questions:
1. Are
you considering water sports as a fun activity
to share or as an activity in “competition " mode?
2. What
body of water will you be on? On the
magnificent Lake Annecy or in the gentle lapping of the waves in the
Mediterranean Sea?
3. How
many people on board do you have to admire your exploits?
4. What
budget do you have?
Band of Boats lets you think, in
the meantime we suggest you take a closer look at 3 different categories of boats
to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of each to the practice
of water sports.
SEMI-RIGIDS
Rigid inflatable boats are comfortable
both in sheltered bodies of
water and at sea . With a 90 hp engine for a model between
5 and 6 m, we already feel great sensations. However, the wake remains flat so
say goodbye to pretty wake jumps. Another major advantage: their high capacity , thanks to their excellent
weight / submerged surface ratio. The ideal boat
slips rental for trips with
friends with a relatively moderate acquisition budget.
OUTBOARDS
Speedboats can also be a
good introduction to water sports .
Their V- shaped hull makes it possible to reach good speed and cut
the waves, even in rough seas. The advantage of the speedboat is to be versatile , it adapts to fishing trips or
coasting. They are also safer, especially with children on board.
BOWRIDER INBOARDS
Finally, the In-Board Bow rider
are the most used in the practice of
board sports. Their propulsion system makes it possible to better center the
engines for a more constant wake. They are fitted out at the front by
comfortable and open seats on the
cockpit and the aft deck to simplify the launching and recovery of the skier.
The passage between the front and rear cockpits is facilitated with an opening
windscreen. The inboard engine is also recommended for pulling a wakeboard to avoid getting tangled in the propeller.
